The following questions will help you plan your web site for success . On the following page, you will recieve a worksheet for future purposes.

Additionally, the answers to these questions will help you communicate to us your companys needs so that we can offer several smart solutions. While they may not be easy to answer, it is important that you take the time think about them as they will dictate ahead of time how successful your web site can become.

  1. What are the basic goals of your web site?

  2. What functionality will your website require?
    ie: Content Management System, Shopping Cart, Mailing List, Search Engine Marketing Tools, Online Surveys, Lead Generation...

  3. How will you determine whether your site is a success and how long do you expect it will take acheive this assessment?

  4. What is your budget, both for initial design and ongoing maintenance? Did you determine your marketing budget as well?

  5. How will your site help you achieve your overall business/marketing goals?

  6. Why would potential customers visit your site?
    (think about this from their perspective)

  7. Who are your potential customers?
    i.e., their income, interests, gender, age, etc – anything that will help us to understand who you are appealing to.

  8. Look at the web sites of your competitors. What do they offer that your site should offer? What could you offer that they don't? What seals or certifications do they use on their site to establish authoritiveness?
  9. Please list the names of some other web sites that you like. Why are they attractive to you?

  10. What colors are important to you in which need to be incorporated into your site design? Does your company colors already established?

  11. If you were using a search engine, what search phrases do you think your potential customers/visitors might use? Please rank in order of importance.

  12. Where is the content (i.e., written copy, graphics, logos, photos, etc.) coming from? Who is responsible for updating it and how often will new data be added?

  13. Who are the decision-makers on this project and what is the turnaround time for making a decision?

  14. What staff will be involved? What are their roles?


  15. How will you promote your site on the Internet? How will you promote it offline?

  16. Do you already have a your long-term plan for the site? If so, what is it? How will it grow and evolve?
